Hi, yes this is a fantastic motor and I never needed to power anything so I did not bother with alternator etc. I have just sold this boat and outboard because I have got a tohatsu 25hp with quicksilver 380hd and I must say I prefer the 8hp on rivers because it is allot quieter and economical.
p.s the max speed I got it two was about 20mph. and no one would believe that it was a 2 stroke it run so smooth
