im from south louisiana i was raised on the water and still live here ive owned them all merc evinrude suzuki johnson tohatsu yamaha that i currently own and theres only one thing to say they are all good until they break
mercury lacks bottom end power why do you think mercury developed 4 blade and ventilated props but they are speed demons
evinrude and johnsons ruled w power back in the day but burned a lot of gas suzukis are loud and its hard to depend on yamaha is very reliable

guys i wont go to the sea if it aint got a yamaha on it , i have a phantom 21 with a yamaha pro-v 200 from the 90s i leave it flat out at 6200 rpm more than 5 mins it gets my boat at 75 mph all the time & iv blown 3 mercs in one summer

Excuse me? Suzukis loud and not reliable? shows what you know… there is no 4 stroke in the world that can match with suzukis fuel economy, noise reduction and torque… if you are thinking of 2 strokes, that is true and I agree, but you can’t mix apples and watermelons. 4 strokes are one thing, and 2 strokes are the other thing.

correct… he is not talking about them… he is COMPARING them… johnson,evinrude,tohatsu,mercury… ring any bells? all of those have 2 stroke motors(and 4 stroke as well)and evinrude are exclusively 2 strokes

Yamaha is better than merc. Idk about the suzukis but one of the guys in a recent tournament had to fish on 1 of 3 merc 275 verdos, thier fast but its a time bomb waiting to go off and i wouldnt want that happineng while swording or in the islands. Get the 250 yammys, there the best around.

this week my cousin …
this week my cousin and i, were cleaning a 38′ MALIBU with 3 yamaha’s v8, and the boat was brand new and cost like 300k, and when we finished my cousin pushed to button to raise the boat and the boat was tilted sideways and he did not see it and the boat hit the concrete pilar and it broke the hull!! now he is going to have to pay 9000k to the owner!

imaculent.yamaha is and always will be top of the line outboards. i have one on my 26ft cobia and its a beast it will get us 65 miles out in no time loaded down with fuel bait ect. YAMAH IS BEAST!!!

Probably you can, but horsepowers aren’t everything. You will also need torque to move a boat.
