I need to repair a broken plastic hose fitting on an old Johnson outboard motor. Can it be done?

The Loctite people said that none of their products would do it, because of small surface area, heat and water. Is it possible to fibreglass it together successfully? Or, could you offer another idea short of finding a replacement part. Thanks for your help..
Many have tried, and few have been successfully. The thermostat housing and water pump housings are particularly difficult. There are used parts online companies that sell these parts reasonably. Good Luck!

Your better off ordering a new fitting rather than risking the fitting failing on you again… just an unnecessary head ache to do stuff like that.

be more specific — a part number would be great. at least, year and horsepower, and a general description of what you’re talkin bout.
when my transducer broke (the puck snapped off from the part that fits into the bracket) I tried epoxy, fiberglass, and a couple different glues. The water pressure kept breaking it off. What finally worked was marine-tex.
worth a try. this stuff right here:

that, or maybe JBweld.

save yourself the heart ache and buy a replacement part, old plastic contaminated with fuel, oil and seawater is probably already brittle. if unable to replace, which is pretty unlikely, maybe you can get a machine shop to turn up a new part out of alloy more expensive but only other viable alternate. most if not all parts are available online.
