What is the gas to oil ratio for a 28hp Johnson Outboard motor
50:1 ratio on that one,i run mine at 40:1 sometimes,it gives it more power,but the factory recommendation is 50:1 on it and i don’t recommend running a stock engine at any less,mine is built a little,good luck.

If you are mixing your own fuel (motor is not oil injected or direct injection), any 2 stroke outboard uses a 50:1 gas/oil ratio no matter what year it is. Adding more oil does not in any way give the engine more power. More power comes from exhaust tuning. If you use more oil the plugs can foul easier. If you use less oil you will do internal engine damage.
Be sure to use a quality TCW-3 oil such as Jonson/Evinrude XD50.

It depends on the year also. Newer engines are good with 50:1. If it’s as old as late fifties, early sixties, run 32:1. Older Evinrudes/Johnsons did not have roller bearings in the wrist pins, so they used extra oil.

It should say either on the cover or on the engine somewhere… But it’s typically 50:1 or 100:1… but earlier answer said 50:1 so he’s probably right.
