Dose anyone have any experience with,or opinion on Evinrude outboard motors Fitch model 200 hp?
I am looking at a boat with an Evinrude 200hp. Ficht. I heard a negitive report from a dealer, who was not an Evinrude dealer. Dose anyone have any experience with this motor?
In my experience FICHT owners and dealers have a love hate relationship with this technology. When it is working correctly they love it, when it goes bad, real bad, they hate it. I have even been told that the purchase and development bankrupted OMC and lead to the Bombardier buyout.
Seems there is a lot of information in the blogs out there with FICHT, and the Bombardier fix is the key. Looks like the big engines are troubled, and you need to stay in 2002 or newer. Looks like there was a recall on the earlier engines.
It also appears there is some sort of retrofit or conversion to the ETEC technology, which I know people love. There is a lot of homework to do on this issue if the engine is pre-2002. Do the search I did with FICHT and start reading, there are many blogs out there.
