I am looking for a place to get a used electric starter for a 1981 15hp Johnson outboard motor. The one I have is pull start and I am needing to convert it over. A new starter kit is going to cost me $700, I can buy a new motor for almost that much.
Before you spend a dime on anything new…give this guy a call. He has tons of old parts.

have your old one rebuilt and also know that johnson and evinrude are the same OMC

if you're a decent mechanic you won't have any trouble. that kit you speak of also contains an alternator which runs the price up. just go online under used outboard parts. lots of sites. start calling them. there are also after market starter button/switches that will allow you to not need a solenoid. also, $700 isn't half what a new 15 costs. best of luck.
