Motor runs with low idle speed of about 450 rpm. There doesn’t seem to be a way to adjust the idle speed because the remote throttle cable “locks” the throttle ring in place. Others have suggested I try a link and sync and I bought the Seloc book but can’t find any procedure with that name.

First disconnect the cable from the controls. Start the engine and let it warm up. by hand move the throttle until it stops on the idle adj. screw. It should be above 500 rpm. now put it in gear, if it stalls your too low, repeat until the engine continues to run in gear. Now adjust the control cable until it can be reinstalled without moving the throttle arm. Good luck!

70hp 3cyle johnson outboard motor need year and model and serial# so I can get it regis. I bought it in a nother state.On top of the motor a small round plate about the size of a quarter has the number 043178 would this be the model number.Thank Rob.

There might be a small plate riveted to the left side of the motor just under the cowling. It should give you year and model number. If it is there just take the numbers to any dealer and he can give you the year and model. On my small outboard that is where it is but on a 70 HP you may just need to call a Johnson dealer with that. They will know where the tag is at. Or go to groups at Yahoo and join ( its free ) the ” antique outboard ” group and post your question. I have had help there from old to fairly new motors.Hope this helps you.

Tobago main source is tourism and taking the tourist to the Buccoo Reef in the glass bottom boat is part of showing them parts of Tobago, The boats here have outboard engines. Parts are very hard to come by and it's not always at your finget tips when something goes wrong with the engine. I need good information like contact person and number preferrable from yamaha. Information that will help me start up that business. Thank you

my brother in law bought a pontoon boat, it has a 90 horse power motor, we wanted to attach a tow bar to it, but at a cuople of hundred bucks for the bar i really want to make sure that it can handle it.

as in tube you mean innertube? the type you get in and float around? if you do you have plenty of horse power way more than enough

My Bass Buggy 18 came with a Humminbird Matrix 17 Fish/Depth finder. This is the first fish/depth finder I have ever had. My questions are: How do you read this thing? The instruction manual is like reading Greek. If the transducer is mounted on the rear of the pontoon, does it read the depth in the rear or the front? It gives very erratic readings at speeds over 5-10mph. Is this correct? It also shows that it is GPS ready. Does anyone know how to make this work. I would appreciate any help that you can offer. Thanks.
