I have a 2003 40hp Mercury stumpknocker marine engine that doesnt crank easily when i first put in the water.?
I flush it religiously and the battery is good starter seems fine plugs have a little oil build up on the base but the plugs are a month old im trying a more expensive two stroke oil wondering if it is normal for a three year old motor to need 7-10 10second cranks to get it started after sitting for a week???
bulb gets hard dont know what or where the choke plate is.
if the screens are clogged it wouldnt be able to run at a high rpm,
it is an 03 mercury 40 hp two stroke out board
i have a 02 mercury 150 hp saltwater series it is also a 2 stroke i have 3 carbs that feed the engine i have to prime the buld each time i start it and when i turn the key i have to push in for 20-30 seconds so that fuel is being let into the engine before it will start
there is nothin to worry about with it not turning over easily on first start up
this is very normal of all outboards

Where can I find cheap but quality pontoon boat furniture?
I am looking for pontoon boat furniture, mainly the couches and cup holders.
Check in many outlet catalogs, i.e. Overton's, Cabella's, etc. I am a boat dealer, and I have access to Kellogg Marine Supply, which also has everything in the world in regards to boats and boating. But, usually Overton's has that stuff. If you happen to have seats in the boat now, but are in bad shape or whatnot, you can buy new vinyl from Overton's and recover the seats as well. It all depends on what you'd want to do, but ordering new seats is the easier and safer way to go. Good Luck!

When do I use a thread forming or thread cutting screw?
I have pontoon boat and I want to mount a fishfinder on my console. I believe the console is fiberglass that is about 1/8 inch thick. The fishfinder mount is a bracket with four holes in it to insert screws (no screws came with the bracket). The holes can take a #8 or #10 screw.
After a quick check of the hardware store, I see that I could use (a) machine screw with nut, (b) thread forming screw, or (c) thread cutting screw. The thread forming and thread cutting screws interested me. When do I use them?
Thread Cutting Screws cut machine screw threads and eject cutting chips as they are driven into material. Thread Cutting Screws have tapered threads and blunt points. Use in metals, plastics, and plywoods .048” to.625” thick. Requires predrilled or punched hole.
Thread Forming Screws form threads by displacing material rather than removing it as they are driven into material, minimizing cutting chips. Use in metals, plastics, and plywood .050” to .200” thick. Requires predrilled or punched hole.
Good Luck!

What is the most capable minivan for pulling a pontoon boat?
Would you suggest pulling a pontoon boat with trailer?
for a minivan, id like at either the chev astro or ford.i think the ford is rear wheel drive ( if it isnt omit from contendors list ) and i know the astro/safari is rear wheel. the front wheel drive models tend to have trouble with traction on the ramp because of the tongue weight pulling the front end up. i would also go with the biggest engine availible, and if transmission is equiped with overdrive,do not tow in overdrive gear range,as this will burn out the gear ( it isnt meant for towing ). also look at towing capacity of vehicle, and the weight youll be towing,if not sure, load the boat up with fuel, and everything else you are going to take out on it,and go to the local scale.that'll give you a definite tow weight. if possible for your situation, look into an extended cab truck.( i assume youll have more than 2 people riding on the boat,(hence the minivan ). youll also want to be sure you have at least a class 3 tow hitch installed. class one is only good for 2000 lbs/1 ton. a class 3 is good for 5000/2.5 tons

Need Creative Christmas Holiday float Ideas???
Our town is having a contest on who can create the best float. The catch is you have to decorate a boat not a trailer. We are using a pontoon boat. Please let me know any creative ideas you may have!
Have a bunch of people ice fishing with santa hats
make it into a big snow blower
How about a big bed on it with two kids sleeping and have everyone else dressed up as sugar plums and candy dancing around in their heads
Snoppy's Dog House
A very large version of Charlie Browns Christmas Tree
