I flush it religiously and the battery is good starter seems fine plugs have a little oil build up on the base but the plugs are a month old im trying a more expensive two stroke oil wondering if it is normal for a three year old motor to need 7-10 10second cranks to get it started after sitting for a week???
bulb gets hard dont know what or where the choke plate is.
if the screens are clogged it wouldnt be able to run at a high rpm,
it is an 03 mercury 40 hp two stroke out board
i have a 02 mercury 150 hp saltwater series it is also a 2 stroke i have 3 carbs that feed the engine i have to prime the buld each time i start it and when i turn the key i have to push in for 20-30 seconds so that fuel is being let into the engine before it will start
there is nothin to worry about with it not turning over easily on first start up
this is very normal of all outboards
